This is very lively and vibrant with a dense and rich center palate. Lots of complexity and balance with pastry, sliced lemon and light dried mango. Full yet racy and intense. A beautiful center palate. Linear. Shows potential for aging but so good right now.

93 points The Wine Advocate"Similarly styled (to the 2010), the 2012 Pinot Noir Gap’s Crown has plenty of charred spices, plum, licorice, scorched earth and dried flowers to go with a medium to full-bodied, rich, yet nicely focused style on the palate. It took plenty of air, so decant if drinking anytime soon. It should have a solid 8-10 years of evolution."

93 points Wine Spectator- "Rustic and edgy, in an alluring style, with a crushed rock minerality to the vivid dark berry, raspberry and subtle earth and herb touches. The finish gains momentum and carries the flavors a long way. Drink now through 2021"

96 points The Wine Advocate- "...the highest scoring second wine I have ever reviewed. A blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc, it is completely different from the Screaming Eagle since the latter wine is at least 75% or more Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Merlot with only a tiny dollop of Cabernet Franc. The 2012 Second Flight offers up floral, blue and black fruit, mocha and white chocolate characteristics. It possesses full-bodied, silky flavors, and a finish that lasts 50+ seconds. It can be drunk now, but should evolve effortlessly for 12-15+ years."

90 points Wine Enthusiast"The cooperative of Reguengos is now a major force in the region. This wine, named after the hilltop town of Reguengos, is a powerful, condensed wine. It has dark black fruits, solid tannins and a smooth texture. Full-bodied and worth aging. Drink from 2015."
94 points Decanter"A brooding and reserved bouquet opens up with air, revealing aromas of crushed currants, sweet tobacco and pencil shavings. On the palate, the wine is powerful and full-bodied, with a chassis of firm but fine savoury tannins, underpinned by a good line of acid. This is more taut, structural and incipiently complex than its Napa counterpart, and will reward some time in the cellar. Drinking Window: 2018-2033
94 points Wine & Spirits"The Paillards blend this wine from Chardonnay (70 percent) and Pinot Noir (30 percent); the color comes from Bouzy rouge (six percent of the overall blend) from 45-year-old vines. That also lends the wine an essence of red fruit, gentle scents of raspberries and strawberries that last. As succulent, creamy and cushioned as this wine may be, it has clarity and drive."

98 points James Suckling"Fabulous aromas of currants, licorice and eucalyptus. Full body with an intense backbone of acidity and tannins. Chewy but wonderfully polished. Turns to terracotta. Firm and silky. Great wine. Try it in 2018. 3,000 cases."

91 points The Wine Advocate"The 2011 Columbia Valley Red Wine offers the classic creme de cassis, graphite, toasted spice and hints of licorice that seems to be present in all of the estate’s Cabernets. Medium to full-bodied, supple and already approachable, it nevertheless has the back-end stuffing to evolve gracefully for upwards of a decade."

96 points The Wine Advocate"...the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) has uncommon concentration and depth in the vintage, as well as a broad, structured profile that will allow it to age gracefully. Loaded with sweet creme de cassis, exotic spice, licorice and graphite, it’s a full-bodied, elegant and classically styled effort that has nothing out of place, fine, building tannin and a rock star finish. It will be approachable at an earlier stage than most vintages, yet still have two decades of longevity."
