91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar"Light gold, with a faint onion skin cast. Spicy orange zest and honeydew on the fragrant, mineral-accented nose. Dry and tightly focused, offering lively Meyer lemon and melon flavors and a deeper suggestion of nectarine. Finishes with building floral character and excellent tangy persistence, leaving bitter citrus zest and dusty mineral notes behind."
94 points Wine & Spirits"The Paillards blend this wine from Chardonnay (70 percent) and Pinot Noir (30 percent); the color comes from Bouzy rouge (six percent of the overall blend) from 45-year-old vines. That also lends the wine an essence of red fruit, gentle scents of raspberries and strawberries that last. As succulent, creamy and cushioned as this wine may be, it has clarity and drive."

94 points The Wine Advocate"Blended of 82% Chardonnay and 18% Pinot Noir, the 2008 J Schram is intensely scented of brioche and toasted nuts with a core of peach cobbler, cinnamon toast and beeswax, plus a hint of dried mandarin peel. The palate is multilayered, opulent and spicy with layers of toast, nut and fruit marked by crisp acid and finishing with wonderful persistence. Delicious now, you can consider cellaring this for 5-6 years for a toastier character."

This is very lively and vibrant with a dense and rich center palate. Lots of complexity and balance with pastry, sliced lemon and light dried mango. Full yet racy and intense. A beautiful center palate. Linear. Shows potential for aging but so good right now.
